Description

9 years ago, in the violence on Kosovo and Metohija, which lasted for three days, 19 Serbian civilians were killed, 950 injured and 4000 were expelled from their homes. 9000 structures were destroyed, including 35 Orthodox Churches and Monasteries.

Cause of the exodus was a campaign of Albanian medias, where the local Serbs were accused that they were chasing Albanian boys with use of dogs, resulting in 3 deaths of Albanian boys. UNMIK police threw this charges as false, but, the Albanian kids, under the big pressure of Albanian medias, accused Serbs for this tragedy.

954 Serbian civilians were injured and dozens of UN soldiers. 72 UN vehicles were destroyed. In this violence wave, 6 cities and 9 villages were ethnically cleansed.

Albanian extremists were began to demonstrate in the southern part of Kosovo, and at the dusk, they moved to the north starting the armed conflict. KFOR have intervened.

The violence and attacks have been widespread in the settlements around Prishtina. The next cities were also targeted- Lipljan, Gnjilane, Uroshevac, Djakovica and Prizren.

Terror continued on the 18th March, when Serbs had to leave several towns (Kosovo Polje, Vucitrn, Obilic...) while in the Belo Polje (White Field) 28 houses were set on fire.

In those days, in Serbia, demonstrations were organized. Mosques were burnt in Belgrade and Nish, while in the Belgrade 17 policemen and citizens (during riot) were wounded.
