Today, on 20th October, Serbia marks the Day of the Liberation of Belgrade.
Joint forces of National Liberation Army of Yugoslavia and Soviet Red Army, after heavy fights for every street, liberated the capital of Yugoslavia on 20th October, in 1944. Both Soviet and Yugoslav losses were around 4000 casualties (3000 NLAY and 960 Red Army casualties- during the fight in the city + 4000 Soviets in whole operation), while German forces suffered around 15000 casualties (in whole operation).
