Description

In Belgrade, in Koshutnyak, there are two monuments, maybe two unique in the world. The first one was built by German Occupation Command in honor to heroism of Serbian defenders of Belgrade in 1915. On monument, you can read these words:

"Monument to Serbian heroes, who heroically died during the defense of Belgrade in 1915. Built under the command of the commander of the German Army, August von Mackensen, as an expression of respect to the courageous opponents."

Just a 10 meters away, there is a Serbian-built monument to the German soldiers who died in attack of Belgrade. As a sign of the Mackensen's chivalry and a response on act of German commander, Serbian command decided that this monument shall not be crushed and it will be as treated as any monument in Serbia.
