Next updates I will be focusing on player limbs, we want to try creating the limbs of the player and animate them with angles, positions this will be great for random melee swings and recoil for guns. I will also be adding muzzle flashes for guns with a nice push back effect and flash on fire.
Some things to look forward to next are:
Fishing rods (for fishing)
Animated item icons
holding the item you have selected even when running etc
new spaceship's to fly and the spaceship console menu for maintaining your spaceships performance.
and vehicles, space bikes all with their own console menu's for maintaining the vehicles.
Let me know what you think with all these changes to Spacebit, We have a artist who will be working on replacing the Spacebit art including characters, monsters and all objects and possibly ground textures so within the next couple of days I will start showing examples of these new artworks.
The fish are a little hard to see in the screenshot but in-game they are very easy to see in the water as they swim around and do what fish do.

A new update is coming soon, It will include the new liquid as shown in the videos. A change to the main menu to make it easier to create, load games. Automatic machine gun turrets and a planetary beacon which will try to contact human life.
There has also been big improvements to the code to reduce crashing.

can you create a new character and try use all the possible maps.
Go to Content/Files/settings.txt
Then you will see something like:
800 x 600
0.4142857 (change this one to 1)
0.4357143 (change this one to 1)
Then that will fix the problem, let us know if this worked :)
Version 0.9.1 is now released on Desura so go ahead and update Spacebit, I'm currently working on turrets which will require fuel to run and bullets to attack. I also want to add spacebikes which can be found around the map! Also expect allot of new polish with 3D sounds, new particle system and many more particles for different things to make everything nicer.

Animals never walk directly in lava unless you SCARE THEM! Jet pack now uses fuel so build a generator and convert items into a fuel source then refill your jet pack fellow Spacebitian!
Next update will include many new items including objects like a energy converter for converting items into a fuel, Animal traps and animals AI will be improved to make it even harder to hunt those pesky creatures.
Animals will avoid lava and some improvements to how liquid reacts with each other.

We tried uploading it to Desura but the file size was too big.

New update is just around the corner. Its going include tons and tons of content and improvements.
I'm about to release an update for Desura I have just had little time to work with recently.
Why do they say this is a MMO, its in no way a MMO every time i see them claiming to be a MMO i die a little inside.
Hey Mik3k i sent you a Desura key becuase of the Updater being down. Spacebit is not dead i just have so much stuff this year i recently married and now following up further tasks and which has made it very difficult to sit down and work on Spacebit, The development will continue at full speed when there is less going on.
About the spacebitz.com that site will be replaced by Belusia.com its just a matter of paying the costs to run the site the website should be up within a month or 2.
Currently www.spacebitz.com is not being re-hosted we have purchased www.belusia.com which will be the new website location but there will be a little delay with the new hosting it shouldn't be much longer.
In the mean time the game will still be available through Desura and Indievania.

Hello Brennie00 whats the problem with the game?
The stages of plant life where drawn by me so the quality is not good i will get the artist to draw better ones soon :)
Also first step to grow life is to create compost which requires water and junk from your inventory at the moment it just requires dirt but in the update it will require compost.
i will also quickly add shadows to the terrain which shouldn't take long at all.
The big Spacebit update is very very close fellow brave Spacebitians :)
Here we go the drawing cliff sides is now done, it still has some little bugs but overall it works well.
You might notice the water looks very square that is because water pulses it grows and shrinks to add a water feel but i will be adding shading to the water so you wont notice those squares when it has shading.
The blue square in the middle of the screenshot is the test player which i use to test the new collision which is also better then before but the collision before was perfect already so you wont notice anything gameplay wise.
All that is left for me to do is re-do drawing tiles which i did not get around finishing, its all that is really left that i need to re-do.
After that i will continue working on the oxygen and temperatures of planets to better match what should happen and some polish for the Spacebit update which is going to be huge :D
If you have any ideas how you can dig into a side of a cliff please let me know your ideas as i am currently thinking the best way it can be achieved, my current idea is to switch between digging down option and digging across option :)
Im very close to the new version of Spacebit being released! i have re-coded collision and now collision is in the best shape it has ever been, You can now also plant crops which grow slowly over time, trees also let seeds fall and land near surrounding tiles, which then start to grow.
Random Generation is working well and at a suitable level for a Spacebit release. All that is left is re-working the drawing which by the way runs insanely quicker at run time then the old way.
I have also been testing growth from trees, months, day and night planet temperature changes. There is allot going on and hope to show some more in depth images and videos off soon about all these announces.
Yes each type of alien type planets will have their own unique programmed generator but at the moment it only creates 1 planet but i will be adding multiple planets which have specific type of life, like the blue grass, green water type on the old Spacebit versions, the purple grass types and your normal earth type. The unique planet types will be pretty easy to create though ill work on the earth type first and make sure its all ready then ill get it working perfectly inside Spacebit.
