The funny thing is, it ran fine on my old computer; it crashes all the time now. If someone is able to identify what new protocols might be incompatible with the game, I'd be glad to address the issue.
As for advise, I'd say to just keep the ship count as low as possible.
Did you find the ancient ship hidden in the Sol asteroid field? Have you destroyed VGER? Have you checked out the experiments ships you can build at the Martian Ship Yards? Have you checked out the various stages of development as anarchists over various time periods? Have you made your way to the alpha quadrant with Voyager looking for shortcuts along the way?

I don't know how to make it stop saying "ham or spam" without hitting the + or - icon or replying.

It's not a daft question and I really wish you could. Unfortunately, saving's not possible. If someone knows how to make it so, please let me know.

The plugins aren't for installation. They're for selecting what type of gameplay you want before starting the game.

It happens sometimes. Reposition yourself and try again. It will work.

If your BC shortcut is on your desktop, then put the plug-ins folder on your desktop; or anywhere else you want it; it doesn't matter. You just want to have access to it. Use the plug-ins to select what type of game-play you want before starting the game and there you go. Just remember; the "Game Modes" plug-ins have hierarchy over the "Crew" and "Era" ones; so select your game mode first and then your crew and/or era if desired. However, that doesn't mean you have to select a game mode. For example: if you wish to play as Klingons during the time of the show "Enterprise", you could select the "Enterprise" game mode first and then the "Klingon" crew plug-in. But, you could also accomplish the same thing by selecting the "Klingon" crew plug-in and the "22ed Halfway" era plug-in in any order. Both of these methods will accomplish the same thing.
