The big things you see are the shared L3 cache. 2 cores share one set of cache. If you look, you will see 8 blue grid things around the horizontal centre of the image, those are the individual cores.

Remember the die shot of the AMD Barcelona Quad Core CPU, well here's an octuple-core (that's right 8) CPU from Intel.

It's the Nehalem EX, designed for servers and used in the Intel Xeon 5500 Series of CPUs. And you can put two of them in one server for 16 cores!
