Same here.

I'm no programmer. I have been a PC gamer for about 30 years and in that time there have been numerous times when to get an old game and/or a mod working I've had to do things like changeing things in files, compiling a new version of a file etc. If I have a tutorial I can usually follow it. So long as there's no actual programming.

I say this as I dared to wonder if I could possibly get Zaero working in the new Q2 remaster. I don't know enough to know if it's within my reach, or if it would involve doing something(s) which are beyond my capability. I tried reading that github page quake2-rerelease-dll but I get lost before even finding any sort of entry point to get a handle on how to go about getting it working.

On archive-org there's a Clone CD image of Zaero. It includes a folder called "Source". But it mostly seems to include image (pictures) files, rather than what I'd normally expect, such as c, h, cpp etc type files.

I played Zaero again recently after playing the remaster. I'd forgot it even includes a little movie at the start. It would be cool to see that reworked, like what was done for the movies in the remaster.

Thinking more about this, apologies for the wall of text, I believe id open sourced Quake 2 in 2001. Zaero was released in 1998.

Trying to work out how I think it might of gone, id would of sold the Quake 2 source to developers of Zaero Team Evolve.

It's then possible that Team Evolve changed and/or added to the engine for Zaero. If they did do that, I assume those Q2 engine changes that Team Evolve made are still closed source, like the Q2 engine was at the time they developed Zaero.

Just because id open sourced the Q2 engine a few years later (2001), I don't think Team Evolve are under any obligation to make their changes open source.

Do you know the fan website systemshock(DOT)org? I contacted the guy that runs the website. He says there's nothing wrong. The lift going through the player is how it's always been. It's supposed to be like that.

Might be a walloftext coming here but i will do a tl;dr at the end.
I got this game on release as big box. Still have the CD. Not played for years and I was up for a replay. I'd heard of this Redux, but wanted to do it manually. So I got all the mods. Installed them all. Started the game and get to Basic Training. There's a part for learning about using an in game button to raise a lift. I got on the lift, clicked the button, but the lift went straight through me. So I uninstalled everything and tried Redux. But exactly the same is happening. Has nobody else noticed, or is it just me?

TL;DR The lift in Basic Training rises straight through your player.

Starting from scratch again I installed the game with SS2Tool and then started the game with SS2.exe rather than the mod manager. I still get the same. The lift goes through me. Surely the game isn't supposed to be like this? I don't remember it happening before.

edit2
Just watched a couple of Youtube videos where exactly the same is happening. Lift goes through the player.
