Sprint is a "fairly obvious" action that doesn't exist as a separate control in probably 95% of platform games. And the shift key alone doesn't do anything, so it's really pretty non-obvious unless we refer to the control options (and why would we think to do that when the game appears to be telling us the controls when we start and it introduces arrow keys?)
ovnidemon (in the comment below) had the same problem I did, on arriving at the prison level, so it's evidently not *that* obvious. :)
Another thing that could do with improving if it's not behind some sort of intractable code barrier - the between level screens of text should be loading the level (and doing the progress bar) *before* you click start, not after. I understand this might be something made difficult by the engine though.
