You have to find a lever which is hidden in the room to open the hatch. It is easier to find in the beta we will release soon.

Glad you liked it so far! For everybody who wonders the key to the descending room is in the "service room" (the room where you need a crowbar to enter). The crowbar can be found behind the hatch in the celing of the library. In later versions (beta and forward) more notes and such will be added making it clearer where to go.
