Then yea thats not suppose to happen. I know you said XNA is installed. 4.0 correct? And try uninstalling and reinstalling the game through desura. The game should work fine when XNA redistributable 4.0 is installed so its weird for it to just stop working.

Use WASD to move him. And to have it full screen, at the title screen you can go to options and change the screen settings to fullscreen.

It still would not work unless you have downloaded xna 4.0 redistitrubatle onto it. Dont know if its Windows 8 compatible but give it a shot if you get a chance to download it.

We tracked down the problem and found the reason why it crashes. It needs to have XNA 4.0 installed on a pc in order for it to run properly. We thought it was the save bug that was causing it since we had a similar problem elsewhere, but turned out that wasnt it. We are currently looking for a way to include the intaller and make it so that when the game is installing, it also installs the XNA 4.0 framework.

Hopefully that is what causing the problem. The .NET framework and DirectX version should not matter unless you are on an earlier version of either(which means you need to update both). But again it shouldnt if the right versions of those are installed, which should be .NET framework 4.0 and at least DirectX 9.0.
