The first zombie in Night of the Living dead didn't run, he sort of staggered quickly. The one in the appalling 30th anniversary 'new footage' might have run, but thats because the guy who made that was an idiot.

My studio is in a 'transitional state' pending the arrival of my new digital recording desk, and I'm on the lookout for a Romero-esque mod to compose for before I start recording in earnest. I'm a huge fan of early horror soundtracks (like those by John Carpenter, the Goblins etc.)

So this is basically Stalker using the HL2 engine?

That's not so bad, now I can start my own Romero-themed mod and TAKE THE MODDING WORLD BY STORM! AHAHAHA!

I have a certain antipathy toward Raven as a modder because their SDKs tend to be universally ****. I mean WAKE UP PEOPLE! SOF2 should have been most modders' wet dream (*shiver*), can you imagine how awesome 'They Hunger 4 - SOF2' would be (explodin' heads and dismemberin' zombies) but now 'twill never be because Raven are to slack to be arsed making a proper SDK! The SOF1 model exporter didn't even have ANY DOCUMENTATION!

Well that's my two bobs' worth. I think I'll go watch the exploding head scene from Romero's Dawn Of The Dead in SLOW MOTION now...

Can you play Barbara and get to lie comatose on the couch for hours on end with your only action "stare blankly"?

I think what everyone REALLY wants to know is do you get accidentally shot by a cleanup crew at the end of the game???

It seems to me that making the Romero films into an FPS is a bit of a bastardisation, seeing as Romero originally made them as a sort of social commentary (especially 'Dawn').

That said, I'm looking forward to shooting some zombies through the head with a lever action. ROLL ON DAWN!

When you start making Dawn tell me and I'll model and animate the infamous 'exploding head' scene for yah!

Actually, Doom III looks to be the hot horror-genre engine now... especially with the real time shadows etc. which would be perfect for a RE style game.

The film that kicked off the whole "You are MAGGOTS!" drill seargent stereotype? PAH! I spit upon your philistine visage with the utmost contempt!

Night of the Living Dead is a great film. I've been trying to get hold of the sequels here in sunny Australia but no-one's re-released it on DVD (unlike the Evil Dead movies). Very frustrating...

God, if we can expect to see some more of that absolutely beautiful mapping in the HL2 engine... By the looks of it HL2's got the whole grungy industrial district thing going already, less work for you mappers :)

If HL2 has all the ease-of-modding that launched 10,000 HL mods, then we can expect to have many fine mods to choose from... As long as bloody CS doesn't manage to finish off strangling the modding community.

Man, those are some sweet models. What's the poly count, though??? You want people to be able to RUN the game! As a modeller i've found that huge levels of detail tend to get lost in-game unless you've got realtime shadows and stuff (which Q3 doesn't).

And in Adelaide Q3 is AUS$40 for the gold pack.

The chicken - farmer combination keeps evoking memories of They Hunger. Ugh... zombie chickens...

I've still got the Atari 2600 that I lost so much of my youth playing Combat on. Recently I replayed it just to ascertain that Combat is, in fact, the greatest game ever made.

Wasn't this mod originally started to win that PC Powerplay comp that seems to have disappeared? The 3d Studio MAX one?
