Just wanted to create a new setting for some characters from the Tournament...

Grieth looked over to Rae across the bench.
They had worked together for the Hellions since they were children and knew each other’s strengths. The sisters had been rescued and later recruited by the renegade faction after the Skaarj ransacked their colony, murdering the entire settlement’s population.
They’ve stuck by each other ever since then.

Greith watched a figure trudging up to her sister almost off-balance out of the corner of her eye. It was their team leader, Zarina. More than half of the time they’ve spent with her, she’s been heavily intoxicated. Grieth thought back to the last match they were getting prepared for.
The match was almost cancelled due to the amount of damage she caused to Ophelia in the prep room before the match. In the past, Zarina was either on the prep floor with empty bottles sprawled around her or she was throwing herself at her team mates like an agro gorilla.

Zarina’s wild child attitude to life had ruined the team’s chances on more than one occasion, issuing bizarre orders to her team in the midst of a firefight.

Zarina stood over Rae, “Watch yourself!” She growled.
Rae ignored her as usual and fastened up her belt.

The team had progressed further than usual in the Capture the Flag ladder and they had decided not to follow Zarina’s orders this match as it cost them the semi-finals last year. They’d figured she would be more of a liability if they had to work with her.

“5 minutes remain before Public Arena Selection. Please stand by.” The female cybernetic voice announced.

The team was almost fully kitted up and ready to face off against the Juggernauts.
Greith had come up against the gene-boosted titans too many times to remember, and this time she’d agreed to work with Rae on getting the flag while Kane would cover the flag with Garrett.

The team knew that the Juggernauts would be choosing the arena since they had a more successful rating. There were only so many arenas that the Hellions could practice on together before today, and capture the flag was known to be tough on all the teams this far into the ladder. With a drunken leader, who knows what will happen.

“You right?”
It was Rae.
She’d done her hair up as usual into three buzz-cut ponytails like Grieth.

Grieth nodded, “Are you taking the lead?”
“Sure, but watch out for Zarina, who knows where she’ll… ”

Greith nearly fell flat on her face as Zarina pushed past her to take her position before the platform was raised.

Grieth often wondered what difference there was between the average Juggernaut and her team leader.

As the lift platform slowly elevated the team to the main hall, Grieth could already hear the crowd roaring in excitement. They were chanting something that she couldn’t make out, but she guessed it was to pump up Gorge’s team of knuckleheads.

Kane’s usual psychotic symptoms were taking hold of him as he literally bounced with self-confidence next to Rae. One of these days he was going to wind up dead, just like Brock.

“Come on!” She shouted.
Rae strapped the flagpole to her back and pulled out her shield gun.
Grieth could hear gunfire down the corridor and took up a defensive position in front of her sister as they looked for an escape route.

“Enemy flag carrier is here!”

It was Ambrosia, and she was running straight at them with a big smirk on her face.
Greith fired her link gun at the female behemoth. Green plasma bolts came flying toward Ambrosia, but she had already sent two spiraling rockets at Rae.
Rae dodged to the right protected by her shield gun but took both head on.

Her shield gun held out just long enough for her to pass Ambrosia’s flank.
Grieth had hit her opponent three times but the ex-weightlifter wasn't showing signs of injury and instead of firing a third rocket at Rae she slammed Grieth into the wall.
Rae heard an almighty crash as she sprinted away. The Hellion shouted, “I need some cover down here, people!"
She was still off-balance from the rocket's impact and had no idea where Ambrosia was.

Rae had entered the central hallway of the complex. She steered clear from the center of the room and hid behind a pillar.

She stopped to catch her breath. She was too exposed and needed cover soon.
There was a doorway to her far right and it looked to be her easiest… Rae caught a sudden flash in the corner of her eye.

A lightning bolt struck her in the back of the leg and she screamed in pain.
She hesitated and lost her balance.
The flag fell to the ground but she couldn’t do anything. She was paralysed from the waist down.

Gorge’s right hand man, Frostbite held up his lightning gun and aimed towards her from the other side of the room.
Rae was already watching her hands begin to flicker in a flurry of green light but blacked out before Frostbite could land a second shot.
He looked cheated but regained his cold demeanour and ran over to her body to pick up the red flag.
“Clean up! Aisle 3.” He said gruffly.

Garrett nudged Kane. He motioned him to grab the rocket launcher from the spawning area.
If Rae was right, three juggernauts were going to give them hell.
He began to double check his shock rifle was primed when bio sludge began to fly into the flag room.
"Shit… Kane." He looked over to where his teammate had left the room. They were already here.

Siren moved through the main door scanning into the darkness where he waited.
He aimed in her direction and pulled the trigger. The purple beam shot towards it's target and pushed the competitor back.
He fired again. The second beam must have penetrated her lungs, leaving her gasping for air.
Garrett had to move, his already limited cover blown.

Next to enter was Gorge, link gun raised at his opponent. A glowing stream of fluorescent plasma flew into his weapon from nearby and he began to open fire.
Garrett ran towards his nearest wall as Gorge's arc of charged plasma began to burn away his previous position.
The Juggernaut moved further into the room to get a clearer shot at the Hellion. The yellow plasma stream trailed behind him, revealing Frostbite crouching behind his leader providing him with twice as much power.

Garrett jumped at the wall and pushed off with all his might. He sailed through the air and fired toward Nikolai.
The beam missed and Garrett landed on his knees. Gorge let out a roar that echoed through the room as the plasma began to catch up to it's victim.

Frostbite grinned, his leader's firepower paying off.
The arc found it's prey and Garrett clenched his teeth, failing to get out of the way.
His skin began to sear with pain.

Kane emerged from behind Siren's corpse and fired a salvo of rockets at Gorge.
The Juggernaut was thrown off guard and the constant stream of plasma abruptly stopped.

Garrett's skeleton fell to the floor, his skin burnt up.

Gorge dropped his weapon and charged like a bull at Kane.
Even Kane's psychotic tendencies didn't prepare him for this.
He stumbled back.
Kane took the full force of the impact and was crushed against the wall.
Gorge threw his remains at Frostbite who was knocked over by the force.

Gorge grabbed the flag and continued through the doorway from which he came.
