Thanks for the compliments. It's been a ton of work but we're slowly but surely making progress. We could definitely use support in terms of playing the game when we do our alpha release and spreading the word to your friends etc. once it comes out. I'm really glad you like what you see so far. It might be a month or so before we have any new updates but we're definitely still working on this project so stay tuned.

Basically instead of actually painting the pants/shirt etc. I just cut and pasted leather pants onto my drawing and warped them to fit the pose etc. I did the same with the shirt and sleeves and really only painted the spinal cord thing and the helmet. I'll be taking some time away from these character studies to start finalizing the UI though and if I do any more art for the game it will be for assets like boxes, interesting rocks, plant designs etc.

Don't worry about negative feedback etc. We want people's feedback on this project, especially people that are genuinely interested in it. We've done a few more tracks, some of which are chill. Like I said about the above song, it was done with the idea that the enemy you're fighting would be one of the really tough ones, possibly a mini-boss or something.

Some people have been asking for some less colorful characters so I'll probably go for a more muted palette with the next outfit I design to give it a more serious look.I personally like a lot of colors but that's probably because my first professional gig (which lasted for 5 years) was as a colorist.

Yeah. The angle of the camera is different too. It looks more like it from a certain angle on the ground plane. Also, I modeled all of the stuff that would be happening behind where the main chunks of rock are on my concept art so there's actually a lot more to the 3d piece than waht I put in the photoshop painting. Basically I just used the photoshop piece as a basic inspiration for the 3d model.
This.....looks.....AWESOME! I'm a ***** for glow in the dark stuff. Plus this looks like a 3d Castle Crashers so it's almost guaranteed to rock.

Well, more like an Alpha release honestly since it'll only be one playable level. I think we're still on track to have that release finished by the end of the year though. :)

Thanks for the comment. I'm really glad you like what you see so far. We're definitely doing an Alpha release of this title which will be followed by a closed Beta and eventually an open Beta release. That's the plan so far anyways. I don't think we can 100% give a date on the alpha release though because there are still some elements not incorporated into it that we'd like to have finished. First impressions are everything after all. I think it's fairly safe to say we'll have an alpha release by the end of summer and when it finally does happen you can definitely be one of the testers. :)
Hey, thanks for the feedback. I'll try to answer your questions as best I can.
1) The overall story has been established, and as far as the missions are concerned I would say the first three have been completely fleshed out on paper. At this point we really need to just build the world that those missions will take place in.
2) No other monsters have been implemented yet. We have the designs in photoshop finished, but the modelling and texturing hasn't been done yet. We'll definitely have some more soon though.
3) We still feel like we're on track for a beta release sometime this year. It will most likely only consist one area of the map though. THis way we can get feedback from our users and see what improvements we need to make on this thing. As far as an actual release is concerned, the truth of the matter is, since we're such a small team this will probably be one of those titles that will be released as an open beta game. Basically since it would be impossible for us to have the entire thing completed for a release, we'll have to build up enough content to make the users happy, and work on incorporating new updates/area/levels/monsters/outfits etc. after the game has actually gone live. Basically, it's probably going to always be getting updates.

As of now we do have some small pieces of the game that will work somewhat similar to what you're describing, but not nearly as in-depth as you have it here. I'm not sure how far we'll take the idea of learning individual trades, but at this point I'm thinking if it does develop into an integral part of the game it probably won't happen in the early releases. That being said, not everything we want for the game will be in the early releases either. Part of working with such a small team on an independent game is being honest with ourselves about how much time and energy we have and how best to use that to maximize the quality of our title and at the same time actually get it finished. It's probably going to always be a work in progress and if it has the kind of audience that allows us the ability to maintain it in the long run, we'll most likely be adding all of the features we'd like to see slowly but surely.
All of that being said, at this point I'm confident we'll be able to provide you with a great gaming experience that's quite unique to anything else you've seen on the market so far.

If you actually did some research into our game you'd know that the "teleportal" you're referring to isn't even a final game asset. It was something we made very quickly to test adding glow effects to in-game assets, and even if it does find its way into the game, it still doesn't look anything like the teleporters from Phantasy Star. Not to mention that a TOONNN of games have teleporters. OMG Look! Here's one from Everquest that's strikingly similar to every other teleporter ever made.
I guess they'll get sued by Sega next.
With all the stuff you claim we stole you can apply the same logic to all videogames. You can say all sidescrollers are just copying Mario. All top down shooters should get sued because they stole the idea from Asteroid and so forth.
"I bet that your game will have same features as PSO2 like changing weapon in action." Sega didn't invent that feature. Plenty of games have used it long before Sega did but oddly enough, that wasn't something we were going to put in the game. At least we haven't discussed it at this point.
Right? We're just two guys struggling through life working day and night on something for FREE for the past 3+ years so we can hopefully create a better future for ourselves doing what we love, and some random dude's just like "I'm gonna get some big corporation to try to shut you down." WTF? What I don't understand is, he has nothing to gain at all by trying to get us shut down. He's literally doing it just to be a (insert profanity here). Well whatever, Sega's smart enough to know we didn't break any copyrights with our title so I doubt they'd waste their time anyways.
Sweet! Glad that could clear up a few things. I think we've all got priorities to handle so no worries there. Me being broke all the time is one of the reasons I'm able to commit 3+ years to a project like this in the hopes that maybe, just maybe one day it'll pay off and I can spend my future actually doing something I love. I'm just glad you're interested in the project though. :p

Don't worry, there'll be plenty of hairstyles to choose from. Hopefully some that you like. :) BTW The color is customizable. You'll be able to apply whichever color you like to whatever hairstyle you end up choosing.
