I've been here before. I have an Idea for a project and its core gameplay but even before that gets fleshed out the ideas for the secondary and thrid systems come flooding in. If you are wondering what i mean this is how I identify what is primary and what is secondary.

Imagine the player holding the controller, or keyboard and mouse, if you want.
Imagine the player doing everything there is to do in a game-play loop, navigate, interact, etc
without having to move their fingers to another button location. That to me is the primary system or mode of play. something like using the D-pad to select Night vision is secondary.

With this in mind I am going to build the primary interactions first and map those controls first.
I will have to leave the secondary ideas on a notepad and let them sort them selves out later.
Its tough to do but there is no point in designing a XP system if you never make the primary systems.
