We see even more of the metaphor for Brian/.The Governor's struggle in the two brothers. On the one hand we have the ruthless man willing to do horrible things under the justification of "they would have died anyway"
On the other hand we have the one with a conscience, who wants to do the right thing, but is very ineffectual.

Now I doubt that Brian would have been as poor a leader as Pete(the nice guy) But the line about his brother getting hurt trying to protect hem from their abusive father, and failing informs the Governors opinion of heroes. Idiots who just get themselves hurt trying to save people they can't.

And of course, we can't forget about poor Martinez,That scene showed us The Governor was really just hiding, not suppressed like we thought. The whole time Brian is screaming "I don't want it!" while the Governor goes about his grisly business setting in motion the events that would lead him to taking over the camp. That was particularly heart wrenching, and to be honest, when The Governor went down to the lake I thought it was David Morrisey(the actor playing the Governor) under the water at first. as though to symbolize what had happened to the personality of Brian.

I rather enjoyed how throughout the episode we see metaphors for the struggle in Brian. The very opening shows him doing laundry between a tank (the soldier, warrior, Governor) and an RV(the home, family man, Dale). I can't wait to start commenting on the real meat and potatoes of the episode but I'm going to wait a day. spoilers and all that.

This picture makes me hope that Brian can beat the Governor for control of this man. He could be such a force for good, rivaling Daryl for sheer bad@$$ness. No really, taking out three walkers in a pit with his bare hands and bone, and to protect a little girl? Hardcore and Heartwarming.

Yeah, I could definitely see that, The Governor's decent into villainy seems to have been fueled by his love for his daughter. It would appear that he had a heel realization and now has a Jekell and Hyde style split personality The more time he spends with her(and to a lesser extent, her family) the more the good personality of Brian takes hold. Take that away before his transformation is complete and the Governor will be back with a vengeance.

I'm actually wondering about that. Since we know the show and the comics have different continuities, and we haven't seen him do anything hostile towards the prison on camera this season, what if the Brian actually has a different reason for going back? Admittedly, that is a just a wild guess, but still...

Extremely good. When you think about it, the Governor is a actually a tragic figure. His love for his daughter and the questionable decisions he makes because of it are not that different from what Hershel did on the farm. We saw how the burden of leadership and the necessities of zombie apocalypse survival can send someone over the edge with the Ricktatorship, so it's not outside the realm of possibility that the Governor had a similar evolution. The tragedy is that I doubt anyone will forgive his past crimes and THAT will convince him he truly is beyond redemption, thus fully restoring his old personalty.

Oh man! Tyreese! *sudden realization* He was out for BLOOD, consumed with suicidal rage, and Rick just sent Carrol away!

Yeah. Between Hershel, Glenn and Lizzie my heart was in my throat for just about the entire episode. It sill is a bit since we got the teaser shot of the Governor AND Rick needs to break the news about Carrol to Daryl. Even Hershel didn't want any of that.

A wild KOFFING apears!
Carrol uses Flamethrower.
It's SUPER EFFECTIVE!

Hershel has come a long way since we first met him on the farm. Now he's holding onto an almost naive idealism, but when you think about it Someone has to in the group, otherwise you end up on the slippery slope that Shane went down and Rick might have too had he not seen he was putting Carl on the exact same path. I think Daryl summed it up nicely "You're a tough sumb****"

I'm big fan of George Carlin, especially his later work. Might be because my parents had some of his shows on cassette and I listened to them when I was a kid

The novels by Jim Butcher. the tv show is a lot like Highlander 2. We just pretend it never happened.

So for anyone who doesn't know David Morrissey(The Governor) played Jackson Lake alongside David Tennant in the Dr. Who special "The Next Doctor" You might not know that Peter Capaldi(the 12th Doctor) Played a World Health Organization Doctor in "World War Z" I know that last one is only tangentially related to the Walking Dead by virtue of them both being set in a Zombie Apocalypse.

The point I'm driving at is that these two actors form a bridge between two very epic fandoms, and yet I haven't seen anyone else mention this anywhere and I want to get the word out.

One last thing: Does anyone else think it was Lizzie who was feeding the walkers and not The Governor?
