Most info is on TW Center page, but factions are:

Stark, Martell, Greyjoy, Tully, Arryn, Frey, Lannister, Tyrell, Baratheons of: Dragonstone, King's Landing, Storm's End (so Stannis, Joff, Renly). Unplayable (for the moment) Nights Watch, Wildlings.

It will be released this year.

- It's free of course.
- Yes we'll post a DL link here.
- No, you can play as all major houses. Night's Watch and Wildlings will be added later as playable, fleshed-out factions.

We had some legal worries (see the TWC forum), that are sorted now.

We haven't got much left to do. We could have done some more previews but we've preferred to focus on the work rather than putting hours into preparing previews. There is, however, a map and music preview:

Hi SeekingSomething. Thanks for the support! In regards to the shields: each unit is assigned a certain mix of houses (usually between 5 and 6), and these are randomly selected by the game engine.

It's great for Westeros as when you have a large battle you see loads of different heraldry all over the place, and it becomes nearly confusing as a real battle would be! This is exactly what we are going for, rather than the uniformed look of the TV series.

What APinkPanzer said.

For future reference, we've based the mod on the books and artwork, not HBO's version.

And for future reference in reference to me: Samurai Lannisters = yuck!

AoR = Area of Recruitment. We use this mechanic for units that would come from a certain town or province. Ie: White Harbour Knights, Kingswood Hunters, Oldtown Nobles.

Targs won't be in v1.0, but we may add some scripted events involving them later...

Stark are more infantry based that other factions, and have excellent longbowmen and AoR archers. Slightly worse cavalary than other factions too.

Or Renly have some very decent AoR troops in the Stormland Infantry and March Wardens which will probably suit you I think.

Unit count can be changed in-game, but standard settings are 120 for professional infantry, 150 for peasants etc, 60 for a cavalry unit, and less for a bodyguard unit.

As the mod was inspired by the books a to begin with (in 2009!) alone, we won't be basing any units or aesthetics off the shows unfortunately.

It's inspired by both the books and TV show, though mainly the former.

Hi mate,

I'm one of the chief devs of W:TW. We do the vast majority of work and publicity over at the Total War Center.

If you're still interested contact HannibalExMachina on our TWC forum:

(New account so can't link the URL, just whack Westoros Total War into Google and choose the TWC result)

Cheers!
Murf.
