How do I back up my game, and which one should I install the mod to?

Hi, I have had this mod installed before with the Steam and loved it. But, I uninstalled it because I could no longer play the normal version of San Andreas, and that leaves me at a dilemma... Do I install and not be able to play the normal game? Or do I not install and play the normal version without the badass zombie mod. Is there a way I could install and still be able to play the normal version of San Andreas?

The 3D version, not this one.
