I'm afraid I've got some bad news folks. This mod will no longer be in production due to time constraints and loss of interest. My thanks to all those who have given support during the development phase, and sincere apologies to all who have eagerly anticipated its release.

While that may be true, you will find that not every part of this mod is about enhanced realism. There's coloured smoke, coloured flashbangs, coloured grenade trails, and heck..even spells and zombies. The blast effect from a HE explosion was added to increase the amount of chaos in this mod, and it's quite alot of fun to watch. Bullets do not give the same effect. But in any case, you can simply turn off whatever effects you dislike in this mod through an in-game menu.

Oops, I missed this one. Not too sure atm..The game itself is already complete so all that's left is to optimise it for online play...configuring codes for online play, writing up a user-guide documentation, download versions for client and server + optional expansion packs, discussion forum for bug reports & ideas etc.

But I'll be taking a break before getting into all of that =/

Haha, yea Ashley's true colours surfaced after the events of RE4 :D

Ok well, it was a tough decision deciding which team Ashley should be on. But I decided she had best become a terrorist or else the balance would be tipped.

So the final teams are:
T: Leon (brown jacket), Ada, Wesker, Manuela & Ashley
CT: Leon (grey uniform), Chris, Jill, Rebecca & Claire

Yea, there's no relation whatsoever. I got a little bored of my usual CS backgrounds of girls or guns so I thought I'd try something different.

A serenely beautiful morning dawns with a sombre sense of foreboding, much like the calm before a storm. Feel free to change it.

Yea, the angle is a bit acute but it was the only ump45 model I could find that looked decent, was error-free and fit best with the others.

Sorry guys, the release has been delayed as I'm currently modding a different game. Unfortunately, there's just not enough folks interested in this mod (just 36 watchers) so I've been a bit lax.

If there were say, 100 watchers, I'd release it in a flash but as it is now, I'm rather on the fence about making that final effort. Uploading multiple zips/rars to multiple different mirrors isn't exactly something I look forward to. Hope you guys understand.

@HunterXD: I haven't played CS:Online but I guess it does bare some resemblance, as this mod does feature all of the original six female player models available for selection in-game.

Regarding the zombie mods, I initially planned on releasing them but decided that I'd post up this one first as a gauge to measure how many people still have interest in cs 1.6. Sadly, however, the result here is rather short of what I'd hoped. So probably not.

The CT's default pistol, USP-45. When silenced, the aim shifts into the center of the screen like in any SOCOM or tactical shooter. Great for feeling covert.

The Halfling's (originally the blood mage from Geesu's war3ft mod) ultimate ability, Immolate.

The Immolate sprite has been improved so it is no longer a simple circular outwards-explosion (like a miniature HE grenade) but rather a large burning sprite (in the shape of flames).

The Magi's Shadow Strike. Basically the Warden from war3ft - helps to illustrate that all races have been re-balanced so that the unpopular ones are no longer at a disadvantage.

The Shadow Strike now poisons and slows the enemy down (like it should) with an improved trail-sprite (a green poison-like sparkle).

A new skill for the Orc, Fissure. Deals 10 damage, screws up the enemy's aim (violent screenshake) and stuns them for 3 seconds. Perfect for setting up a sure-kill with the Orc's Critical Grenade.

The effect of the human's new skill, Frostbite. It deals a minor 6 damage to enemy health but destroys 25 points of the enemy's armour whilst slowing him/her down over 5 seconds.

Light blue screen flashes, new sprites and sounds included.

Just thought I'd add that you can plant the c4 on walls or even unsuspecting players, like my friend James...needless to say that he couldn't move and got very, very ******!

Oh and that c4 is a giant PSP for those curious.

YEAH!! I feel so much better after reading your comment! But sadly, it seems like hardly anyone cares :( Though the game itself is already quite user-friendly, I was planning on making an FAQ or quick-know-it-all HTML guide coupled with the installer software. Not too sure at the moment whether I should release it. I'll post an update soon with more detail and screenshots and at that time I'll probably draw a conclusion out of the crowd's reaction.

Sorry for the late reply..it's been another busy week of modding for me! Yes, the chainsaw comes with its own animations and sounds. The sounds took me a crazy long time to find (well, the good ones at least!) but it paid off with a chainsaw that sounds and feels like it was originally a part of CS.

Ah yes, I got a little bored of the usual circular green radar. There's actually two radars I added. One is the one you see in the screenshots (Biohazard symbol) and the second is a black/grey compass-like one with purple dots (I'll probably have to screenshot it sometime.) You can switch between the two at any time by typing into your console.

You're right, those little red dots you're seeing are particles of blood - left flying around after you blow someone up with a HE grenade. It looks great in-game.

I'm surprised you even noticed the slight glow on guns firing. You must really know your CS! The effect is achieved through amxx plugins. There's a host of plugins around and everyone can use them but to get the most out of them, you need to know a bit of coding to manipulate them to your liking.

I have those three choices of grenades in my other Counter-Strike 1.6 mod (CSZ), but that's because it's a humans vs zombies game. To me, I just feel that molotovs fit best in the zombie apocalypse and not in an ordinary gun shootout..which is why I haven't added them in yet. I think I played a bit too much Left 4 Dead!

Also, with CSX being a standalone game, this mod is quite reliant on its bots. But bots being what they are, they wouldn't know how to avoid a cleverly-placed molotov in a doorway. They would simply walk through the flames and die - you could kill half the team this way.

Well I could drop the damage per second of the Molotov so it would take more time to kill someone but then you'd be better off with an ordinary HE grenade. And if I dropped the molotov damage but increased the area effect of the molotov, it'd still kill alot of bots (or injure them all to an extent that a couple more bullets would be all that you need to finish them off).

So molotovs..well..they'd only work if you play without bots. They work in my zombie mod because zombies are stupid and have unlimited respawns.

As for separating HE grenades and Napalm grenades, that can be done but I guess I'd rather just keep the game simple and add the napalm effect to all HE grenades (everyone's used to hitting O-4 or B-8-4 on their keyboards). I don't know..what's everyone's opinion?

I know what you mean..there's not much point in improving an old game when you can simply play one of the new ones. As this was originally made for private gaming, it meant that even the old and crabby computers could run it, so that no one would be left out at a LAN party.

I suppose I'm releasing this primarily to those who aren't fortunate enough to escape from computers with integrated-graphics and anyone who still prefers CS 1.6 over Source.

True, frag grenades don't really set you alight. But I guess my main purpose in modding this old classic was to re-spark the chaos and excitement by introducing something slightly different - just not too overboard. Yep, looks like the HE grenades have really transformed into napalm nades xD

The armour displaying on each models on purchase, and its protection from non-armour piercing rounds are very nice ideas..though I think it may take too much coding to achieve - especially when I am the only one working on this mod =/ Thanks alot for the suggestions though.
