Projects?

MeganElizabeth Blog

Out of 5 of my modules in my final year of university, 4 of them have some pretty big projects going on.
Virtual Reality
For one module I am currently creating a virtual environment of a canal with animated ducks, and a functioning canal barge. Currently working on water manipulation withing UDK. Managed to create swimmable water (which I don't reaaaaally need) and created reflections and such, but I created a simple mesh of a duck to practice with and placing it on the water it seems to bounce everywhere - I think I need to edit some properties but it's hilarious.
Mobile Applications
As much as I love having a variety within my course, I find this project less exciting purely because of the spec - using JAVA/Eclipse I am creating a mobile application for freshers at my university.
Serious Games
When they serious, they mean educational. Using Flash I am creating a game/tool to educate refugees on how they should do a normal working day to reduce stress levels - called 'In The Zone'.
Final year project/dissertation
I am working with a National Lottery funded project and the Derwent Valley World Heritage site - the project is basically getting young people to use technology and engage in their heritage. There are a bunch of college kids doing the project who are just using the 3d scanning data that we collected to do things like get my lecturer to print off a 3D scan of a building. I am however going to create an educational game. I have already linked together the scan data and images to give myself help with proportions and colours and such, I'm currently modelling in Max the individual assets which is taking a while but will be worth it in the end.
