Does this work with pirated copies, I bought the game a while back but cannot find my install. So i was just gonna pirate it, but if the mod wont work i guess i'll just buy it again

hello, i just downloaded the mod and am pretty sure i installed it right but when i enable the core part of the mod sins of a solar empire crashes and does a mini dump. Even if i only enable the core it still happens. I was wondering if you knew of a fix for this
