I think if Moddb's indie game content were moved here, it would bolster this site much more.

Then the sites could cross-link each other.

May be a lot of work, but worth it over the long term.

Indie gaming is not going to slow down. It's just not. This site is a sign of the times.

Hey,

I have the steam version of UT3, so my directory structure is like this:

C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\My Games\Unreal Tournament 3\UTGame\Src\UTGame
(UTGame is empty here)

and

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\unreal tournament 3\UTGame

(which contains folders: classes,FirstMutator, cooked pc, etc).

I coded my mutator and placed the scripts in the classes folder as well as the FirstMutator folder

then ran the shortcut, replacing 'editor' with 'make'

Unreal compiler says "no scripts need compiling"

It only searches the binaries folder.

Tried placing scripts in there, no dice.

Help!

Ok i just installed this mod on a new computer and a fresh copy of max payne 2.

Upon launching I get this error:

Exception in engineInit:Unable to load save game "Games\Max". File does not exist or it is not a valid savegame file.

What's up with that?

I like this mod.

Multi-directional firing is fun,

HOWEVER......it's EXTREMELY difficult to actually dodge bullets in a room full of enemies all aimed at you, particularly if you are surrounded.

I was doing the moves correctly too, but some combo's just don't have much fluidity.

And other times I can just walk into a room and hold "control" and everyone dies.

Fun, gorgeous, and i know a lot of hard work went into this, but the controls and gameplay need tweaking.

One day I hope to see fully PRACTICAL gun kata implemented into an action game :)

Even if not all the bells and whistles are there, at least get the weapons done and then polish off the bugs.

That's the core of the game: Guns.

You can always have the community make more maps and models.

Just get the weapons done and the bugs polished.

Oh Really?

Day of Defeat Source is a $9 game that took 6 months to complete.

Garry's mod took about a year.

Graphics of these games if far below current standards but that doesn't matter because they still look very good.

A simple idea done very well will go farther than a mod that tries to be a $50million AAA game.

Oh, and as has been said, stop trying to compete with mainstream multi-million dollar games when it comes to graphics.

Get the graphics to be polished, but don't overdo it.

Spend your time on planning, organization, teamwork, and getting the gameplay to work well.

Set reasonable milestones and meet them, and avoid too many ideas creeping in.

Define your core point of satisfaction in a game design so that even if the mod doesn't completely finish, you still have a playable and fun game (like sourceforts).

Simplicity is the hallmark of genius.
