You have to load the map 'gotem'. This can be done by following steps 3 and 4 in the readme txt file.

Its currently impossible to start the mod without a console, to my knowledge. You don't necessarily need to bring it up during the intro, but it is essential that you be able to access it somehow.

A quick fix :

Go to the Settings > Keyboard / Mouse area in the main menu of DX, and change the key bound to 'Send Message To All' to 'T'.

Let me know if that works for you.
We'll provide a save-game method to start the mod in the future.
