Introduced just prior to the 1980s, the UH-60 Blackhawk quickly became the new quintessential American utility helicopter featured in nearly every military operation and countless works of pop culture. Powerful, versatile and timeless in its design, it went on to serve far into the 21st century. By the 2030s, most of the Army had replaced its Blackhawks with new helicopters from the Future Vertical Lift programme except for one unit: The 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment, forming the air mobility component of SOCOM, continues to operate a highly modified version of the Blackhawk due to the simplicity and reliability of its design and decades of pilot experience.
