It is impossible to answer questions if you write them in a review. The review-section is for reviews of mods, not questions - that is a comment-thing.

Multiplayer in Medieval 2 and it's mods are either custom battles over lan or online, or through a hotseat campaign.

- Hotseat is when you and friends choose the factions you want to play as and then take turns playing them on the same computer. Unfortunately battles will be against the AI if played in real-time. It is possible to play against others online in the campaign by sending saved-games and taking turns - but that takes many months to do.

There are no multiplayer campaigns over lan or online where you can fight each other in the battles.

The reason you got more than one faction selected when you tried playing hotseat, is because the Lordaeron faction is automatically selected - you have to click on it to de-select it. Then you can choose how many factions that you want to be played by a human player. It will be turn-based and any battles on the battlemap will still be against the AI.
