Yes, you can keep the old models, if you use reforged, then the place to import is the "war3" folder..."_retail_"..."units" next, go to the fraction folder where the unit belongs, then to the folder of the unit itself and delete (or rename) the mod files with the mdx and blp extension - instead of the model from the mod, the original model of the unit will be.
For the older war3, everything is the same, but the unit models are stored in archives with the .mpq extension.

Review, or rather gratitude + bug report! (7th patch Rebirth version)
Hello, great job! The mod is really cool, but there are a few comments.
Maybe it's just me.
1) Trees... let's just say that sometimes they are normal, and sometimes their underside is visible.
2) In Lord Garitos, after the blow, his own model appears in ("T" pose-zero pose), but if you do not stand still, but make an attack and run away, then everything is fine.
3) SpellThief increases his weapon when attacking (I don't know what the correct name is) it's obvious.
4) Goblin minelayers light up the entire map when they explode.
5) Centaurs run strangely and all melee Centaurs make strange attacks.
6) There is no teamcolor in demoness.
7) Among all redrow Kiljaden the worst animation (bigfoot and others like him have the same problem).
P. S. This is not a criticism!!! I just tested and pointed out the errors! Everything is super! I tested it on the current version of Reforged (1.32.9.16589)! I hope I helped in some way
