Hi undeadslayer! Try following the Hamachi tutorial found here to get online play to work:
You'll need to either set up a server or join a server someone else has set up and running.
Unfortunately at the moment the game is primarily LAN or Hamachi multiplayer. We don't have any dedicated servers or matchmaking systems set up at this time.
I'll try and organise an event at some point where we can all get together and give it a play. Will be sure to make an announcement and news update!
Sorry for the late reply! Currently the team has been very busy working on a different project, and our deadline is for a demo release in January. More info on that whole thing to come soon! ;)
Due to this, we can't yet say when we'll have a chance to continue our work on Charnel, but we definitely think the idea of adding more of a variety of weapons would be really cool. You know, originally we planned on having all the professors start with an umbrella to whack the monster with!
So, to answer your question, and I am sorry it is vague, we'll know where we stand and hopefully have a more flexible timeline once the new year rolls around.
We'll be sure to keep you guys posted, at any rate! It's very cool and encouraging to see people enjoying our game!

At the moment we only have the shotgun for the humans and the monster attack. We hope at some point in the future to implement a number of different weapons as well as different character skins!

Hi Dante! The way it's currently set up is ideal for LAN, meaning players gather a group of friends and play among themselves. Unfortunately, we don't have any dedicated servers at the moment, but I've written a short tutorial that will allow you to use a program called Hamachi and play online: Indiedb.com
Many apologies raphpro390! I'll let you in on a little secret to make up for it; the team has strongly been considering working on a complete single player campaign for both the human and monster! Our programmer needs to study up on AI stuff a bit more before we delve into this sort of thing, however. Also, as I said in a previous reply, looking to better the multiplayer system with servers and whatnot is at the top of our priorities for further iterations of the game. That's one we haven't encountered before..I'll let our programmer know and see what he thinks might be the case.
Hm, it could be that your machine doesn't meet the system reqs. Please send the .txt files located in Charnel>UDKGame>Logs and any other info you have (e.g. specs) to firstname.lastname@example.org and we'll see if we can figure out what's gone wrong.
Thanks for the feedback and encouragement! We totally agree and definitely want to work on bettering the multiplayer system. Looking into a server browser and more intuitive game hosting/joining is a number one priority for any future releases of Charnel.
Hey BlackMamba, at the moment Charnel primarily supports LAN play, but we've provided a tutorial that allows you to play online using Hamachi. It's real easy!

Thanks guys! We plan to keep working on Charnel at some point in the future, as we love the concept. With our first ever game now released, we're currently having some team discussions and deciding on what our next step should be. Stay tuned, though, we're definitely not closing any doors!
