In 2004, I created a character named Kurall in City of Heroes. After the game company ruined the game on me, I decided that I was going to recreate Kurall in my own game - and in the past three years I have taken animation to learn how to create video games. This is one of my great passions, and you will see much more of me in the future.

Kurall, so far

Kurall_Creator Blog

I guess it all started in 2002, when I first took Journalism. The first lecture my writing and reporting professor gave us talked about society's view of journalism - and of course, the idea of super heroes came up - because Superman and Spider man were both journalists. It wasn't too much after I learned about the development of City of Heroes, and I wanted to play, because I was always a fan of the super heroic.

I started playing the game on day one, and the first character I created was the whacky lumberjack named - lumberjack Joe. He wouldn't be my last, of course, and in the second issue of the game I created Kurall. He was a super reflexes/Katana scrapper. I imagined a superhero who could see ahead of time and react quickly, fighting crime with extraordinary skill with his Katana. Then the character started to really evolve. Not only could he see ahead of time, but he could manipulate time as well, attacking faster and faster, running beyond what humans could run, jumping higher than average humans could jump and many other feats of speed, all because he could alter the flow of time as he saw fit.

But in the fifth issue, everything was ruined, and I quit the game. I started to play Star Wars Galaxy for a few months as Kurall, but when they changed the game, I decided if I was truly going to enjoy the story of Kurall, without it being changed, I would have to create it myself. It was then, while I took E-journalism in College, I saw using computers to tell that story.

I graduated journalism and then I worked for a couple of years to save up money to go back to college and learn animation to learn how to create Kurall the video game. And over the past three years, as I learned how to tell stories and be an artist, my idea has evolved to the point it is now - I will create a video game on the iPad and on facebook using all my ideas and all my skill. I hope you will enjoy it when I have it ready.
