It is a good mod but it has some downsides.
The mod takes place in another Research facility than Black Mesa and it kind of nail that aspect. It feels different and it's pretty good. Although the research part is only present at the begining and the end of the game.
Also, it is supposedly taking place in New Mexico, but the outside has a dark grey palette (with heavy rain sometimes)which make it feels it is on another continent. Russian audio also doesn't help with the immersion to New Mexico.
Mod has some new weapons and they are great to use.
The mod has a pretty long duration and Xen is stunning IMHO.
Game in hard is really, really hard : lack of ammunitions, very tough ennemies (6 shotgun shells to the head to kill 1 bullsquid, 8 for HECU zombie...)
Switching weapon is way too slow, it is frustrating, especially when you have to change weapon during a fight.
Some ennemies spawn right in your face with no cover or whatsoever.
Too much alien controllers and assassins.
Still, it was a good experience and I'm looking forward to the definitive edition which will fix a lot of issues.
Simply the best Half-Life mod
