I, too got a keyboard layout with Z being next to QWERT (german layout, to be precise), so the current layout for diagonal movement won't really do the trick for me, either.

In regards of resolution: The current resolution is fine as long as fullscreen will be implemented as soon as possible. I don't want to always hide my taskbar and trick the window into a position where I can still see the last row of inventory space. ( If relocated, Windows forces the topmost part of a program window to be fully displayed [so you can reach the "Minimize", "Maximize" and X Buttons]. Due to my vertical resolution being the same as the game, the bottommost pixels vanish, hindering me of seeing the last inventory row and latest console message.)
So please, not everyone has a vertival resolution greater than 768 pixels. Consider Resolution changes and/or fullscreen as soon as possible.

It works!

Well, the "Continue Game" option stays grayed out even if a saved game exists, but this is only a graphical issue since the function works as intended.

Now all I need to enjoy it on my tower without changing my resolution is an option to change the in-game resolution or set it to fullscreen mode.

Another bug fixed! Thanks for the quick fix.

The game works fine on my laptop, so the error does not occur on every system. If this quick bugfix can help fix the problem on my tower, it should prevent additional lockups for other users.

Reinstalled the game after deleting user files. Sadly, the game still refuses to start while user settings exist. The first startup is always successful, all other startups don't work anymore until the user files are deleted. The process starts, lasts for the duration of the splash screen (the "TheIndieForgo" Logo shown at the beginning) and terminates itself right after.

System Preferences:
Microsoft Windows 7 SP1 64-Bit Edition
AMD FX-8120 Eight Core Processor
AMD Radeon 6700 Series (specific chipset unknown)
8 GB DDR 3 RAM

If my antivirus is to blame (avast! free antivirus), then this could be a problem, since it seems to not block anything regarding the game (at least it doesn't tell me).

I will run the game in its current state on my laptop to see if this error prevails.

Ok, now I found something new. The game won't fire up once the settings exist in the first place! I always have to kill the settings-files everytime I want to start the game, otherwise the GUI won't show up and the sound won't play either.

In other words: The user settings seem generally corrupted in regards of the GUI and sound. The anvil didn't have that power over the game files, they seem to corrupt themselves.

Yeah, that did the trick! The "Evil Anvil" ( I will continiue to call it that since I have grown accustomed to it) corrupted the game settings. Thanks for the info, the game works proper again. gladly I have no save files since I started the game today for the first time on my tower ( the past few days the game resided on my laptop).

I have to say, you're some pretty competent guy. Quick to reply and straight to the point. I'm looking forward to discover and vanquish more bugs with you. So again, thanks.

Well k, the game is officially braindead for me. I treid everything to revive it, a reboot, redownloading the game, manually killing the braindead remnants and redownloading everything again... won't work. Whatever this evil anvil did, Claustrophobia is braindead for me. I say "braindead" because the process is actually running, since I can see it in the Task Manager. However, the GUI won't show up, rendering the game unfunctional, hence the "Braindead".

Are the other locations where the game saves some settings/ user data? Could be a problem with those.

Finally, the update is out!

Everything works nice so far, except... I Shift+Right-Clicked an anvil. No bueno, instant crash. Right before the crash you can hear the sound of you character stashing the anvil in his inventory. I don't know if you actually can pick up anvils, but either way this is a legit bug that needs a fixin'.

The crash seems to be evil, the game won't fire up again. So here be a warnin' folks, DON'T Shift-Click an anvil!

Nice UI and finally some use for all the crafting materials. Additionally, I can now use my tower PC to play the game (My TV has a standard resolution of 1360x768, which is 6 pixels narrower than the former resolution of the game).

Still, I wonder what to do with alle the money I got. I raked in more than 100000 gold, and no good stuff to spend it on.

klatschbatsch - - 10 comments @ Claustrophobia: The Downward Struggle

This game is fun. I made it to level 7, THEN remembered something about skills, died, and actually used those skills with my second character. For me, it is way more fun than Hack Slash Loot, since I actually have a chance of survival instead of getting vanquished by the first enemy I encounter. Just my opinion, though.

One more thing: I picked somethig up with Shift + Right click while my inventory was full, and the item... well, I think it vanished. The console stated that my "inventory is not empty. Nor is it full.", which is strange, since it WAS full, or are there other hidden item slots? I also experienced some rare graphical jitters, where the whole window turned white for a frame or some other minimal graphical error.

Oh, I almost forgot: How about moving around with the keyboard? Like WASD or the arrow buttons? It may be a more convenient way to move quickly, but walking diagonally may be a little problem. With this in mind, custom keymappings should be considered, too.
