When you get the dropship, go to upgrades, and select the faction you want to play with as an upgrade.
As of right now no. The mod is pretty huge when it comes to the number of custom units with 3 different faction flavors to play with. The BattleTech universe is huge, so no worries. If you have any questions ask away.
One of the biggest assets early game is your lee class dropship. It's loaded with weapons but they power down when its constructing units so keep that in mind. Getting 1 or 2 Auxiliary Power Generators up and running after you initial 4 mass extractors is really important early game.
The Lee dropship stores the units within himself. So once you build 1 or 2 units with the dropship, unload them with the unload command.
The models in MWO were just to heavy for this game in my opinion. When this game supports 1000 units, the math gets a bit crazy. My models, don't exceed 2.5k polys, MWO models are in the 20k-30k range. Also, it was good practice for me and fun modeling/texturing/animating battle tech models.
I did look into the nomad faction mod, but as a 3D modeler/artist the coding was way over my head, so we chose this path.
Hey thanks man.
Yea I noticed that the starting Lee dropship can only build the Jifty, and the Warhawk. But the next step after getting the Clan Command is to pump out a couple of Jifty engineers and start building your base, which the base factories have all the units for the selected faction. Let me know if this makes sense, if not I might do an updated video on some base gameplay.
Hmm that's odd. Did you spawn in as the UEF? Also, just double check the mod installation folder as it might pick up the mod but might have a folder within a folder causing it not to work.
So the readme file goes into details on exact installation but this is the section you're looking for: "Installation:
Works with the latest Steam version of Supreme Commander.
Copy over Supreme Commander Forged Alliance mods folder:
C:\Users\[your PC profile]\Documents\My Games\Gas Powered Games\Supreme Commander Forged Alliance\Mods\
(If you don't have a Mods folder in you Supreme Commander Forged Alliance folder in your documents folder, then make one)
Once placed your directory should look like:
C:\Users\[your PC profile]\Documents\My Games\Gas Powered Games\Supreme Commander Forged Alliance\Mods\Supreme Mech Commander
****For unit icons to show up please use BlackOpsIconSupport mod available for download from our ModDB page.****"
I'm really close to releasing the next version. Like maybe a week away if I don't find any new bugs.
As far as MWO models, they are dense, like close 20-30k polys. I would need to retopologize then so they are in the 2-3k range. So its easier for me just to model them myself. Good practice and avoids any moral issues of directly using another artist work.
Thanks. Yea the post MWO art for BattleTech really made the mechs better looking.
Make sure you downloaded the "BlackOpsIconSupport v5" mod as well to get the icons working.
Thanks.
Any suggestions or requests?
Just regular AC/20, can't imagine the size of naval AC/20 lol
Np. Yea, the battles can get pretty epic.
Yea totally, that's why we resumed work on this project.
Yea, this is a generic IS variant. Planning to make one or two faction specific variants, possibly in the Tech 2 range.
No even worst, 3x Gauss Rifles.
Hey thanks, resumed work on this Mod, going to be posting more shots soon.
Yes, Clan Snow Raven revolves around salvaging, so a good amount of the units they poses are able to salvage. The Dropship does have an increased build rate for them due to this mechanic, and it increases further more via the 2nd Dropship upgrade.
Make sure you place the Mod in you Supreme Commander FA Mod Foder(\Documents\My Games\Gas Powered Games\Supreme Commander Forged Alliance\Mods\), once in there when you start Supreme Commander FA via Steam then the mod should show up in you mod list ingame.
OhNoesBunnies! Inner-Sphere stuff is in, just go down the Federated Suns route and you're set.
We are not looking to push it that far. The Modded units are balanced to handle Tier 3, and even Experimentals due to the damage multiplier/mitigation.
Make sure you are playing in Assassination, Annihilation or Sandbox mode.
Unfortunately no news in this department.
cloakinglemon23 Check it out the Kitfox.
1.5.3599, not sure about this version, Currently steam uses 1.6.6 , not sure if there is any difference between them.
The mod heavily modifies the existing UEF ACU and turns it into a Dropship, that acts as a mobile factory.
If any of those mods touch the UEF0001 folder it may cause some issues, I'll take a look at them when I have the chance.
Yea the AI does not work with these units. If playing against the AI you need to choose one of the stock factions as a opponent.
