Bitfighter

Game review

Easily one of the best semi-competitive multiplayer games I've played in a long time.

Gameplay is simple and really easy to pick up. There's a decent amount of customization in the way you organize your weapon and module selection, and there are enough combinations to fit every gameplay situation.

The multiplayer is top-notch. This game was built for multiplayer. One of the aspects that I really like is that player ships are weak, and respawning is encouraged. I've played too many games where I had to be conservative of my player's health and not take any risks. Bitfighter's really different in that regard, and I love it. Epic, reckless, all-out combat is a hallmark of this game.

That said, strategy's a big part of it, too. There is voice communication software built right in, and team chatting and quick chat messages. If I'm under attack, I can press a couple of keystrokes to alert my team of my condition.

Bitfighter comes with several game modes. There's a ton of variety: Classic modes, like Capture the Flag, and unique modes, like Soccer and Rabbit. Cool stuff. :)

Map creation is super important in Bitfighter, because there are virtually no stock maps. Fortunately, there's a built-in map editor, which is very easy to use and share. I personally own more than 1,200 community-made maps! No need to worry about new maps.

Best of all, Bitfighter is totally free, cross-platform, and is actively being updated. Not sure if we're in beta or not right now, but every version is playable. Join us!

tl;dr: Multiplayer space shooter featuring frequent respawning and hectic combat. Game contains several game modes, weapons, modules, and a built-in level editor.

PROS:
+ Multiplayer
+ Lots of variety
+ Easy to make and share maps
+ Unique aspects
+ Insanely awesome combat ;)

CONS:
- Community activity is intermittent, and it can be hard sometimes to find a game
- Bots are neat and good for playing solo, but are kind of primitive right now. They are being improved
