yeah that appears if you don't have renegade. but the mod is still standalone you just have to direct connect to the servers.

You can do that by using the tool that is placed on the desktop with the game shortcut, APBIP.

You enter your playername (try to keep it less then 10 letters/numbers elese it may screw up.
Then entre the server IP and hit connect. You can find the server IP's here (the official servers anyway)
Apb.mp-gaming.com

Hope you enjoy it. You can also check your stats and ranking on that webpage and checkup on the ingame progress.
