The music of Ian Knowland, a composer for both media and concert from the Pacific Northwest, can be described as relevant and satisfying. He is able to quickly emulate a wide range of styles and genres while venturing into new soundscapes, both digital and acoustic. Not limited to the use of the orchestra, Ian frequently tracks digital instruments with fluent ease and tasteful output. Ian’s most recent work includes his War Rhapsody for orchestra and the soundtrack to an original theater production called “Frankie’s Flights of Fancy”, a family-friendly story of a rambunctious little girl who embarks on a fantastic journey with the use of a magic toy chest that sparks her wild imagination. The music and sound of “Frankie” was cued live from the sound booth to actors who had no spoken lines, requiring a unique approach to the composition process that was akin more to the looping fluidity of video game music rather than set music for theater or film.
