Trials of Last Steel

Early access mod review may contain spoilers

I recently finished the Early Access Demo and I got impressed.

I have to say that the concept and storytelling is fantastic!

The enemies are completely original!

The interaction with the police officer is something that I was always looking for when I was a kid playing Half-Life (instead of left behind all scientists and security guards after they have completed an objective in the game). In this case it feels so dynamic and provides a good use of the character.

I am not a fan of cutscenes in Valve's games, but in this mod are outstanding, good use of angles and animations as well! It gives more life to the main character, allies and enemies.

The mapping is good and it have received a great improvement than the previous demos. Different types of scenery, some are complete and other have spaces that could be well used.

Some objects or npcs are not well placed (I mean not placed on a table, or on the floor, they are on the air but not exaggeratedly) when they are performing an animation or they are part of the environment.

The final boss was entertaining. The first time I climbed a scaffold and the enemy got stuck, I restarted the battle and the music did not play. So I have to restart before the cutscene to have everything in order. Besides that, as I said before, it was entertaining.

I know that this is an early access release and I could be bothering looking at some details. But I cannot deny that the effort put into this mod is something impressive. ^-^
