Could that support pillar be a corkscrew or pulley and bucket elevator? Perhaps something more advanced from our ancient friends, the Dweomer? Also, would hydraulics play a role in the stability of the construct? I love how you've taken the existing assets and made them familiar and new all at once. Truly a labor of love.
