It is with deep regret that I must inform you all that the current WCAND development team has shut up shop.

This means that while the project isn't dead or "officially" abandoned, no work is currently being done on it. The idea behind it was and still is that it was a community project, it wasn't our vision of Warcraft 4 in Starcraft II, it was yours (or everyone's).

We feel like we've done what we can, and would like to thank you all for the support you've given us thus far. If you're interested in taking over the project, assets and all - send us a message and we'll see if we can't get something sorted.

Remember you can still play the released alphas by searching for 'WCND' on BNet.

All the best,

- GN

Glad you like it - but it seems as though the team has (regrettably) fallen into an extended hiatus. I have no more information than that at this time, sorry.

We have considered it and haven't wrote it off completely, but with no native support for water pathing/mechanics in Starcraft II, it's a big undertaking - that may or may not be included down the line.

In a nutshell: No, we don't currently intend to release it with naval units - but may very well come back and add it later.

There's a Russian Mod we're somewhat affiliated working on a Warcraft III replica (not an unofficial sequel) in the Sc2 engine:

It's Russian, but Chrome can translate it.

Though we are in liaison with another group who are working on a solid remake in the SCII engine.

After the intial four races, additional races are a - considered - possibility. They are not a final decision at this time.
As for characters, if/as/when we move onto campaign development the story would start at the end of the Frozen Throne (ignoring the WoW Arcs) - so yes, you will see Arthas, Jaina, Thrall, Illidan etc :)

It's not something the engine natively supports, but I don't see why it couldn't be scripted in. Of course smaller graphical details are on the back-seat for the moment, but closer to release (or after), this is definitely something we'll consider!

It'll look fairly similar, I would presume - It's just a matter of scale, depending on how testing and development goes, things like gameplay elements and food limits/army sizes will affect the map layouts and sizes - The models probably won't change unless we get a huge influx of half decent volunteers! ;)

Thanks ever so much for the support guys, it really keeps us going! :)

That was the intention, the bottom image has modified lighting to produce a cartoon like/cell shaded effect. This is 100% intentional and is a demonstration of a graphical concept we may apply to the entire mod.
