27 year old 'Computing with Games Development' graduate aiming to get his feet firmly planted in the gaming industry. Proficient in programming and 3D modelling. I have previously worked with the Unreal and Unity3D engines, with a preference towards the latter. Currently working on a number of Unity3D projects, with the first of many to be completed within the next couple weeks.

Well... I think I should start making use of this.

So, why am I here? Well I am a Computing with Games Development graduate from the University of Greenwich who is trying to get himself through the doors of the gaming industry... whether that is by unlocking the door and calmly walking in or creating a massive human-shaped hole in them is undecided. I have joined IndieDB as part of a bigger portfolio, somewhere to store my imagination in 0's and 1's... or pixels... whatever floats your boat.

I am very much a Unity3D kind of person, I have had stints working in the Unreal Engine 3 as that was the preferred package of choice during my degree, however it didn't make me feel involved as all the coding was more or less done for you through the visual interface of lines and nodes, i.e. Unreal Kismet. With Unity3D I feel a whole lot more involved in my projects, writing line after line of C# code and seeing my game behave the way I tell it... it's a great sense of achievement when you get the computer to do something as you intended it to be carried out.

I am currently working on several projects, although one has stood out and has taken my attention for the last few weeks, a 2D "platformer" where you control a ball... but can't actually touch any platforms... yeah, how about that for a twisted idea of a first game? I'm hoping to upload a demo to the IndieDB archives within the next couple weeks, and I may build on it depending on popularity, but my priority at the moment is just building up a portfolio of games and game ideas to showcase my abilities, and then take things from there. In the end, my goal is to start up my career within the games industry, so I can't just focus on a single game... as the saying goes "don't put all your eggs in one basket" (by the way I'm 27, I'm not as old as some of you may think I am with the wise stuff coming out of my fingertips).

Anyway I feel that is more than enough rambling for a first blog, more will follow as it comes.

Julian
