I've just talked to Seven-D about it and he said it would probably be the second smallest of these dots. But what you always have to keep in mind is that this is only the blue mountains - the misty mountains will be about three times as big! ;)
Hey, that is a really good question which I cannot answer properly. I will contact Seven-D, because he is the one making our heightmap. I would assume it is the second or third dot. Our mountains will definitely be a lot bigger and a lot more realistic than the ones in Tamriel, but I cannot promise you too much. Maybe Seven-D can promise a bit more.
What should I say here? There is not much I could.
MEMod for Morrowind was not really shut down due to copyright issues, but that is something which we should not talk about here. But I am sure we will finish and publish AME.
About game depth: Yes, there will definitely be real game depth in AME (I fear it is even too much). Dialogues and literature on the one hand, but also the graphics (in some parts really detailled and realistic). Believe me, game depth is one of our most important points, as that is really what is missing in almost every game.
btw. I have been having school for over a month now, but still, that does not really affect my works for AME (alright, it reduces the time available, but that's it). ;)
You will definitely not be able to play one of the fellows. Just imagine Boromir had not wanted to take the ring at amon hen? What then?! Or Gandalf had not fought against the Balrog in Moria? Especially this Gandalf vs. Balrog thing was so important for the history of ME... As was almost each action of any of the fellows...
You cannot play any of the fellows but meet them. Letting the player take the role of one of the fellows he would have the chance to alter the course of history!!

But yes, of course, we are planning on adding the Mouth of Sauron, which appears in the books as well. Right now I even think that the film did not do a bad job here - at least I do not remember any passage where the mouth looks different in the books (of course he will not be killed by Aragorn...).

@Ilsamir_Lord: The panoramas are taken from the Blue Mountains, but the final version of these mountains is a lot better. These shots were mainly created to give some idea of how the terraform will look in general, and not how special places will look - that will come later on ;)

Sorry, but I am not the heightmap guy. You should rather contact Seven-D., our 2D Leader (http://www.seven-d-sign.com) who is making the heightmap.
@BerenErchamion: Yes? What about that?
@MadisonMotors: It all gets distorted? Hmm... Might be your height levels are too extreme? You definitely must not use the color white. As fara as I know the highest level has to be something like a semi-dark gray - I am not sure about this though. Still try to lower your mountains aso a lot! And also consider that you have a 16bit heightmap: The difference between the color #1a1a1a and #1b1b1b (so in 256 grayscale just one step!) is (if I remember correctly) 8 metres difference ingame!
For the 3d models you need the extension .nif - there is an inofficial (but perfectly-working) exporter for 3d Max 6-8.

Yes, Tolkien's world, and not Peter Jackson's world. In some respects the film has some great ideas, but for most of our works it is not helpful. The biggest achievement of the film was making Tolkien's works so popular. :)

@largejack: We are still trying to invent the 64 hours day and the 14 days week, but it is not that simple ;P For the thing with region after region... That would altogether take much more time (and that for several reasons). Of course there are some preferences (Rohan was our first region to start off with, gondor and the shire as they are difficult will rather be done in the end), but still we will do our whole ME.

Of course there might be some trouble. Still this does not affect us in any way.
And I can assure you that we do have our thoughts about EA (and other companies) and the rights they own, but I will not talk about that in the public. But if I was not quite sure that we can release our project when it is finished, I would not work that hard on it ;)
As soon as we are getting close to the beta-tests we will start off with the English translation (maybe even a lot earlier). So I would assume that the English version comes out only a bit later than the German one.
I am quite sure they will. We already have some speakers who will help us, and we will find many more.
Believe me, we are creating way more individual NPCs than Bethesda did. Each of them will have his own dialogue, i.e. greeting and a topic in which he is talking about himself, and some topics (like "Minas Tirith" or "Edoras" or "King Théoden" or "Eriador") about which he is giving a unique reply to the player. (unique means that only he will use it, and it does not mean that he will use an answer only once...).
So really, our NPCs will have much more individual dialogue, and so we will do our very best to synchronize all that. I cannot promise anything, but well, we try ;)
Well, there will definitely be an English version, and so people may translate it into Italian. But I have to regret, that we, the team, will not translate it into any language but English. Anyways, we would support a translation into whatever language as much as we can.
There will not be any evil factions playable, because as an orc or whatever the player would be hunted throughout whole Middle Earth, which would take away all fun from the game.
Nevertheless the player will have the chance to become and do really evil, and he may even serve Sauron or Saruman in some way, but he will never be able to play as a really evil race.

Welcome to our third profile here. The first one had been closed due to a change in game engine from Morrowind to Oblivion about a year ago and the second one has been taken over by a former teammember in favour of his own project. ;)
I will try to keep this profile as up to date as possible.
I hope you do all like our mod, but criticism is welcome as well.
