I'm a solo musician, working mainly within the electronic and sample fields, although I do also incorporate elements of classical music, industrial, sample, and atmospheric - as well as good old fashion rock.

002: Pitfalls and Possibilities

fingerpuppet Blog

I'm currently going through a Hardware change of sorts - unfortunately, I cannot compose any new material at this time, but I will post a blog as soon as I can resume.

As usual, feel free to check back, leave comments, check my uploads etc.

I suppose the main reason for wanting to change my hardware, was because it was geared, generally - as opposed to being towards professional-quality synth and electronica.

I am hoping to go completely "sample" this time around, rather than a hybrid of musical notes, instruments, and environmental sounds.

001: The Composer

Where to begin...

I spent two years at college, studying music and performing arts. Everyone on my course were into hard rock and metal (including most, if not all genres within metal)

Around this time, I discovered electronic music, and I've never looked back.

Both my music and soundscapes draw from an already wide, but steadily growing pool of interests - which includes...musical genres from classical right through to glitch. Literary genres from Japanese folktales and ghost stories through to the Irvin Welsh - and movies, from the silver screen to the 3D screen, and from East to the West.

Notable influences definitely would be:

Nine Inch Nails.
Akira Yamaoka.
Delia Derbyshire.
Depeche Mode.
Rammstein.
Siouxsie and the Banshees.
Radiohead.
KMFDM.

As well as many, many more.

In terms of "emotional" content, I suppose one of biggest inspirations is life, everyday life - things people say, how they act, all that stuff. Sometimes, it could be a simple thing like a crumpled bottle rolling around on it's own in the wind, or the colour of a wall.

To find demos of my work, and to ask permission to use all or part of a track I made, please feel free to go to my band page on Myspace.
