Ok now I understand.
Your CPU is no pure gaming CPU and definitely not suitable.
Take a look at these benchmarks:
The 760k gets just 4543 Passmark (Rank 511).
My 6 years old i5-3570k gets 7132 Passmark (Rank 269)and I bought it cause IT IS a gaming processor.
So playing with a 760k is for sure no fun.
And I still believe there's something else wrong with the cooling or the CPU!
Cause we've tested with an E8500 (wich is rank 1018!) and got temperatures about 35-40°C
But there's a way to improve the game performance: lower the visual range from 3000 (meters) to 1500 or better 1000.
Once you've started the map press ESC and disable the shadows.
Dynamic shadows calculation is A LOT of work for the CPU!
Atm. the shadow setting doesn't get stored in the configuration, so you'll have to disable shadows each time you start a map.
But I try to change this in the next version.
If your CPU really goes to 90°C then something is terrible wrong with your CPU or cooling system. Either you run the game on a very old or low budget CPU or there's something wrong with the hardware. Overclocked? Single, Dual, Quadcore? Less than 2.8 Ghz? Tell something about your hardware specs.
My last CPU that reached 90°C was a defective AMD XP3200 in 1998 wich finally ended in a nuclear meltdown.
It's not coded to kill anything, but if you try to climb the Mt.Everest on a donkey you may get some problems. A good gaming hardware is required, cause this is not PacMan.
The game is updated daily and also the AI coding gets improved step by step.
But if it's unplayable like you said it may depend on a really poor hardware.
We've tested with lots of machines (some 6 years and older) and of course you need a good graphics card, CPU and enough RAM.
A game with so much statics and vegetation, huge terrain and endless number of vehicles will never run on a lower class PC.
The game was coded on a 7 years old mid class PC (i5-3570, GTX660-2048, 16GB RAM) and is running very fine without lag or performance problems.
So it can be a bottle neck, i.e. the GPU or CPU or a lot of applications running in the background.
Send me your specs and maybe I can help you.
The mod isn't dead just EoD2 is discontinued.
But we still work on EoD-BF1942.
I've just uploaded 2 missing EoD2 files players were asking for ;)
FishSim was the 5th game.
There have been some tests with FarCry2:
Trailer @ Lottimax.de
133 new effects
198 new buildings
186 new maps
102 new vehicles
32 new stationary weapons
40 new handweapons
36 new soldiers
??? other things
Does this answer your question ? :)
Did you install Battlefield 1942 latest patches ?
Please go to www.eodmod.com / BF1942 / Downloads and read the instructions.
I have no idea.
But BF42 & all mods don't work good with 64Bit OS.
Bf1942.exe as administrator & XP compatability sounds good.
? LOL ?
You're right, this is BG42 and NOT EoD content.
I never checked the code for if there's an option to change this and always thought the bots decide it randomly.
We'll have a look at this...

Yes, the BF42 mod died long ago.
But it has got a revival in 2006 cause of one frustrated BF2 player :)
I HATE connection problems while logging in a game :]
Meanwhile there are some hundred enthusiastic players all around the world. We have friends in USA, Brasil, Europe, Asia.
And the community is growing.
