I like it better. It does however seem to give more depth to the distance between the angled edge of the ship and the horizontal x-axis. I don't know if it's a bad thing or a good thing :/ Jer would probably judge it better than I could ever do :|
I'm comparing this with the image I posted (here it is btw I.imgur.com) I think that what I was trying to do is something similar to yours here. My take would be to narrow the "bridge" part that links the circular mount to the superstructure (something like what I did with the MS Paint image^^) but keep your mount's overall shape (maybe make it slightly less tall?).

could be the angle it is orthographic view, yes it seems a bit high but i think it´s ok.

I think this is much more fitting imo. It's a lot more...asthetically like the rest of the ship, if that makes sense. I think it does.
i saw it on the Contentor supply ship, fits better definitely
