Lately I have gotten seriously into original soundtrakcs (OST).
I started when i bought Bastion on sale during christmas. I wasn't expecting much of it, but it turned out to be a fantastic gaming experience. The gameplay was a lot of fun, and slightly challenging as well, and the story was okay, but what really struck me was the soundtrack. Had it not been for the amazing soundtrack I might not have cared much about the game at all, really. Anyway, ever since Bastion I have been hooked on soundtracks. I even bought the soundtrack, which is something I rarely do since I've been using Spotify to sooth my musical needs for a few years now.
I then went on to download/stream the soundtracks for games such as Oil Rush, Portal 1 & 2, Mass Effect 1 & 2, and a few others as well. I have never noticed how great soundtracks are until now, and I'm grateful that Bastion opened my eyes to them.
I have also found that I much prefer soundtracks as opposed to normal music while I'm working. Since soundtracks are mostly instrumental they won't distract me like a normal song with lyrics would. I have a bad habit of focusing on the song lyrics and singing along, which often causes me to loose all my focus, or completely forget what I was doing.
So that's my opinion on soundtracks, and I would love to hear other people's opinion on them, and especially which soundtracks that you recommend.
