Been playing Morrowind since it came out in 2002. Picked it up cause it looked good in the store. Ten tears later, I'm still loving this game. MORROWIND...10+ YEARS OLD AND STILL THE BEST PC GAME EVER!!!!
These are the mods I am presently in Morrowind. I chose these after a month of searching, reading reviews, avoiding "dirty reference" mods, and mods that are known to conflict with major mods. I went with these to add quests, new areas new creatures and people. The wonderful graphics that came with are a bonus from the grace of modders everywhere.
I started with a vanilla installation and went with the MGSO 3.0 auto installation and took all the mods it offered. I then added the rest one-by-one to check for conflicts.
There are some amazingly advanced tools to help get this to a happy state where everything is optimized. The tools are listed below and are available to all free of charge. If you add or build mods, you need these tools:
MGSO Options Graphic User Interface
Morrowind Launcher (comes with MW)
Morrowind Code Patch
MLOX (not enough good can be said about this amazing tool)
Wrye Mash (Some advanced civilization communicated this to Mr. Wrye =^)
MGE XE Ver. 0.9
exeOpt (This one has a little trick. Disable Benchmarking on its tab.)
Morrowind Enchanted Editor (some changes it shows need to be left alone)
Construction Set (comes with MW. Use with caution!)
(Some of these tools come with MGSO 3.0, so just link a shortcut to them in the Morrowind directory.)
I know others out there may have more mods (I've read of 255 on one machine), but I don't think you'll find better. I'm always open to great mods I've missed. My Alienware laptop gained about 4 pounds after I got all these on it. You'll need a pretty mean mother(board) to run a mods setup like this.
