Castlevania: Simon's Destiny

Mod review

Castlevania: Simon's Destiny is the combination of two of gaming's greatest franchises--Castlevania and Doom--into one amazing nostalgia trip! While on the surface it's just a remake of Castlevania 1 in the Doom engine--bosses and all--at its core you can really see the passion that went into making every detail of the six levels you will be whipping your way through, and the love that was put in to making every aspect of gameplay feel as "un-Doom-like" as possible! Other than having to load it up in a Doom source port, you will forget you are actually playing something that was built from a 90s first-person shooter with little to no platforming elements, into a hard-as-nails vampire-hunting whip-fest of a first-person platformer that stands as a perfect tribute to both franchises! Everything from whipping candles and statues for hearts to fuel your sub-weapons, to the hidden wall chickens for health, to those F--KING MEDUSA HEADS KNOCKING ME OFF THE F--KING PLATFORMS GOD I HATE THEM SO F--KING MUCH!!! is here in full first-person detail! I won't spoil my favorite moment for you, but if any Castlevania fans remember the beginning part of the sixth level of the original Castlevania 1... be prepared... to RUN!!!

Oh, and I'm sure everyone already knows this by now, but if you find the hidden switch on the second level, you can open a hidden room for a special Easter Egg... You f--king nerd...

Also, I used the Brutal Doom Ketchup blood mod, and while it didn't do much for the regular enemies with the exception of the Axe Knight, the bosses bled WONDERFULLY with every hit! <3
