Amnesia: The Dark Descent

Game review

I love this game. The way it tries to immerse you is not at all pushy or in your face, but rather quite subtle; and it does the job extremely well. Every time I hear a monster growl or a person scream I get an immediate adrenaline rush that constitutes my fear and survival instinct; like I don't even remember that I'm simply playing a game anymore. The graphics are top notch and the fact that you can grab and move just about anything in sight is very realistic and greatly helps with immersion. The story is very deep and a good story, in my opinion, always helps me get sucked into playing games over and over again; such is the case with Mass Effect 1-3 (I'm on my 4th playthrough of the series). I also like that the game "shipped" with the ability to modify it and make your own custom stories. I am only half way through the main storyline and I anticipate that the rest of the game will be as fun and scary as the first half. The puzzle are very sophisticated and quite challenging. I have to rack my brain to find pieces to machinery and tools and where to use them with almost every puzzle. Don't get me wrong, though, this is a good thing. I like my mind to be tested while gaming. It helps me keep my mind sharp and gives my relatives a reason to stay of my back about doing almost nothing but playing video games and making YouTube videos in my free-time. :p I don't really see any way that the developer could have made this game better! If this were MetaCritic I would most certainly give this game a 100/100! A very well deserved 10/10 for this game.
