Ah that's because you need Artillery. If you just have troops you are basically holding them out until they have to surrender.

When Im playing against the Germans as the British my game crashes if German snipers/Bunkers are present on the battlefield. Im pretty sure I've pin pointed it to this and I have no idea why its happening XD
