Hopefully, everyone remembers the good ol' days back when the graphics were bad and the battles were turn based. It seems that role playing games of this era are running from that past. RPGs now are less about role playing and more about mashing buttons as fast as you can, and that is bothersome.

I heard recently when a certain show was reviewing a certain game that they were disappointed that it used the traditional turn based combat system. The also said that there was no real innovation involved, and that it hasn't changed in about 8 years. To me, it can't be a RPG if isn't turn-based, it's either an 'Action' RPG or a Hack N' Slash.

I'd like to know if that's a problem. Is it possible that the reason it hasn't changed is because they got it right the first time? Does anyone agree with me out there?
