I asked Manke about the name but he said that if I used the HL1 engine I could call it Darkstar 2, but if I used Source I couldn't. I don't know why. I think with HL1 he could secure the rights with PC Gamer or something. I wish I could call it Darkstar 2, but I can't.
Two months and no update, I seriously doubt that he's doing anything. I've got people working on my space station map as I speak. I've got the whole thing planned out, and I plan on actually making it challenging and enjoyable at the same time. I've got Neil Manke supporting me on this mod. Oh yeah sure he helped on the first one, but apparently it just wasn't cutting it or he would've been back for part two. As for the pathetic nods toward Bigbird? Oh yeah. He's got his head so far up Beattie's *** that it's not even funny. And he's got the nerve to try to get him to moderate you on your message board? See, we're buddies so I can make fun of Bigbird on your board and neither one of them can do anything about it because that's not their jurisdiction. Now say if I were to go to either of them and say that they like to, uhh, "*** rape each other repeatedly for ***** and giggles" then that would warrant retaliation because it's first hand. But since this is on your page, and you are my home boy, then neither of them can do a damned thing about it because they have no right.
And of course if I wind up getting banned regardless, I'm going to do everything in my power to file some sort of civil suit so big that Bigbird will end up having to live in that garbage can with Oscar.
That guy's got some serious issues.
Barney's Tales looks awesome. Keep up the good work.
How many maps had been done for CHAOS? I'm part of Planetphillip's HL:Resurrection team and our imperious leader might be interested in finishing it after they finish the two they're already working on.
So Nuclear Target used to be Ispitatel 3?
I thought that it was a good mod for HL1, but I don't think I would have converted the maps almost exactly like they were in HL1. I imagine the time it took to do that, it would've been just as easy to do new updated ones, or at least improve a couple of things. Bottom line, I enjoyed Dead Sector for its gameplay. I enjoyed The Island for the enhanced graphics. However, somethings were lost in the translation and it didn't give it the same feel.
Okay. That was what I was wondering, because it would be a shame to let some awesome looking maps just sit dormant indefinately. Thank you for putting up with me for as long as you have.
Well, you see I'm a college student and I just got out of classes for the semester, and I hope to have an accurate representation of the Darkstar done pretty soon. I say accurate because Brian sent me a rough version of what it will look like, and I don't want to post it because it gives the wrong impression of what to expect. I mean, if you insist I could put it on here. But trust me, in its current state it ain't pretty.
I just can't understand why someone would rather leave something unfinished on their harddrive (or even worse delete) than to let someone else do it. I could understand if it was like 10 or 20%, but dude! It's 80%! You could at least piece it together enough to release. We don't care if it doesn't flow properly! (Wake Up Ron Burgundy was pieced together from deleted scenes, and people liked it!) We'd rather have a buggy as hell mod than one that was never finished. Don't let us down in the 11th hour. Please.
This has been a public service announcement from all of us here at moddb.
Well you see, I didn't update. I just want people to know that I haven't abandoned them already, and I don't want people to give up hope like those mods that say "updated 24 months ago" I do have another mapper though.
If I offer you my first born, would I be able to beta test it?
Nobody makes me bleed my own blood... NOBODY!
Aye, comrade. Mother Russia would be proud.
Randy says he can do mapping, and that he has a friend that does mapping too. Before I really decide, I want to see some of each of their work before I go looking for a mapper. If I need a mapper, I'll post a bulletin about it.
Yeah, Manke gave me permission. Unfortunately though, he could only secure rights to the Darkstar name if it were built on the HL1 engine, but he did say that I could use the name Darkstar anywhere in the game as long as it wasn't in the title, and that he looked forward to playing it when it was finished. As for your second comment, I've never bashed a certain mod in the making, I bashed the prequel to it and its creator. The sequel looks good. I just hope it doesn't have exceedingly tedious and annoying puzzles like its predecessor.
I'd buy it as long as it's packaged in stores, but I refuse to buy anything over Steam because, well, it's Steam.
Are you going to actually be able to drive it?
Shouldn't that thing have a ramp instead of steps?
That's pretty sweet right there. It's like Poke646 for Source.
Thanks so much for your interest! Could you please tell others? I could use the publicity. Lol.

By far the greatest mod ever to be created.
This is the greatest mod ever! 400,000,000,000,000 times better than that crap they call "The Gate"! And yes, there probably will be a T3. Just not any time soon.
Yes. We know that you are are publishing part of it, but what of the rest?
