I sometimes wonder where all of the creativity in custom maps went to. Custom maps used to give players complete freedom to create something original and fun. Take Counter Strike for example, CS 1.6. was full of interesting and creative maps that had nothing to do with the theme of counter-strike, like de_rats. More recent (CS:GO) custom maps seem more focused on realism and tactics, or in some cases, fitting the theme of the game, which is fine, however the more creative maps have been forgotten and are are hardly ever seen. Call me nostalgic, but I miss those kind of maps from 1.6.
