Go into the Dino D Day folder on your hard drive, and open gameinfo.txt. Change the SteamAppID to 218, save the document, and reboot Steam. You should see it then.

Check out the next screen shot. The Russian hero (technically Latvian) is having an intimate moment with a raptor. The British hero is the bloke with the goggles on his head, getting shot in the back.

If its not the general source mod issue that is mentioned above, you may need to go into the Dino D-Day folder, open GameInfo.txt, and change the "SteamAppId" to 218. Save the file, restart Steam, and you should see it.

Check point #7 in the update. This is an unfortunate issue that is not unique to the Dino D-Day prototype that we released back in November. We'll try to spread the word as soon as we know anything different.

There is no way we could promise dates, even ballpark figures. But I think its safe to say you'll see a commercial release in one form or another within this year.

Once again, trying to respond to thatguyphilip but ended up here for some reason.

Ideally, you'll want HL2 EP2. If you don't have that, you should be able to use any Orange Box game, but you may need to open gameinfo.txt and change SteamAppId from whatever it is to 218.

This was in response to Crusher98, not sure why it popped up here.

Thanks for downloading!

It is unlikely you'll see any more changes to the alpha that we released here. We've moved on to newer things. Shinier things. We'll try to get some more information out there before too long.

Okay, if I understand you correctly, you have tried changing SteamAppId to 420 and 220, and you have tried changing ToolsAppId to 218. Have you tried changing SteamAppId to 218? If you haven't done that combination yet, it may be your problem.

helleston, and JUGGERN:

If you're getting into the game at all, its probably not the 218 issue. Is there a certain point when you're in the wreckage that the game crashes?

A lot of you are noticing the stock source engine sounds, and you're absolutely right. We didn't change much of anything as far as audio. One thing I would like to point out to calm your fears:

Abe (c_b_fofep) has been a part of Digital Ranch for several years now, which is a cable TV production company. This means we have access to things like professional sound studios, and voice actors. A complete, professional audio overhaul is definately part of the plan.

Thanks again everyone. I thought perhaps I should post some issues that we were already aware of.

Difficulty:

I don't recommend setting it above easy. We didn't spend a whole lot of time tuning the difficulty, so it can be quite challenging on the lowest level. Take no shame in selecting the 'easy' button.

Greedy train cars:

Items like to get stuck in train car floors. If they're stuck and using 'E' doesn't work, shoot the item and a lot of times it will dislodge. Shooting the problem is generally the best solution anyway.

Dinosaur skins:

This came up long ago. There will be more.

Map Geometry:

You won't have to look that hard to find some seams and such. Also, it isn't the most optimized thing you've ever loaded on your computer, so if your machine is near the minimum system requirements for EP2, turn everything down as low as you can. We would polish these things, but the layout of the levels you are playing now will likely go through a significant redesign by the time a game releases.

Thanks for the incredible turnout. If I think of any other issues you should know about I'll post them.

"jkruse05 replied:
Make sure you have run both HL:Ep2 and the Ep2 SDK recently."

This is actually a very good point. I seem to remember going through that myself when we were testing it. Enter into EP2 and make sure it loads the menu screen. For good measure, start the SDK and exit out. THEN try running the mod again. If that doesn't work let us know, it sounds familiar to me.
